I bought this book right after it came out, but I just finished it up last night. (Those who follow me on Twitter know I was pretty late reading the last few chapters.) Upon finishing, I felt reminded again why Sarah Palin is so popular among conservatives: She comes across like she’s no different than any of us. You don’t have to pull out your handy pocket thesaurus to make it through sentences, though some think that’s a bad thing, and the message is plain and simple.
“Going Rogue” isn’t going to give you any earth-shattering insight into the McCain/Palin campaign; most of what’s in the book have made their media rounds in some form or another. However, what you can expect is a look at it all from Sarah’s perspective, which is something we weren’t really granted access to without the obligatory media spin surrounding it.
One of the more profound moments comes at the beginning, on page six to be exact. This moment details exactly what she was doing when John McCain gave her the call that would change her life: She was at an Alaskan fair, talking to some volunteers at a Right to Life booth. Little anecdotes like that one are worth buying the book because you can truly feel the excitement that Sarah felt.
In short, this book isn’t going to be viewed as cornerstone in modern American politics; however, it’s an interesting, first-person perspective of what we all heard about through the news media. For Palin fans, this book is definitely a must-read. For everyone else, I’d recommend.

What’s the fascination with Palin? She’s a nobody who didn’t even write her own book.
She’s interesting. Whether you like her or not, it’s hard to deny that she’s at least exciting. However, I didn’t understand the fascination with Barack during the campaign (and still don’t), so I guess I can see where someone you’re coming from.

Exciting? I don’t see it.
With Obama, we thought we were getting a real progressive. Instead, what we got more business as usual.
Really? Maybe it’s a conservative thing, but I find her to be pretty exciting. Let me see if I can further explain.
By exciting, I mean she keeps things interesting, if not always for the right reasons. For example, stepping down halfway through her governorship was a terrible move, but it was “exciting” in that nearly no one saw it coming. She’s a fun figure to watch, is more what I’m trying to say. Hope that clears things up.

Good book. She is someone that has stands for something and doesn’t waver. It’s refreshing!
Sarah, your book is brilliant. Go girl, go. Your straight talk and genuine personality are refreshing. Keep doing the right thing and keep living by the Golden Rule. This book is for everyone to read, think for yourself, people! Sarah, bring back honesty, integrity, and old-fashioned 10-commandment Torah/Law (you know, the kind that God spoke and didn’t retract – at least anywhere that I can find) to our Founding Father’s way of thinking and make America great again. Someone should put this book in every library in the country. – Blessings, Rita Crosley
Sarah’s book deserves 10 elephants!!!!! Elephants rule!!!!!!
I still haven’t read this book. I like her but would rather see more from her in terms of actions than just reading her book. Maybe we will see more from her over the next few years?
