American Idol Top 6 Power Rankings: Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, and Siobhan Magnus Lead the Pack

Tonight the Idols will be performing the music of Shania Twain, but who has the most momentum going into the show?  Check out our Top 6 Power Ranking and leave a comment with your own!

1. Crystal Bowersox- A moving cover of “People Get Ready” during the top 7 cemented Crystal’s spot at the top of the list for a second consecutive week, with many saying that Crystal has this thing in the bag.  However, recent stories making media rounds regarding Crystal’s ability to handle all of the stress that comes with Idol could lead to a Vonzell Solomon-esque Top 3 meltdown.  Not only that, but her notes-hit percentage is lower than everyone but Aaron Kelly.  However, if the judges continue to ignore those bum notes, she’ll undoubtedly sail on through to the finals.  (SAME)
2. Lee DeWyze- Lee has been improving each week of the competition, and American Idol voters like growth.  However, Lee’s nearly non-existent personality and lack of confidence or stage presence could hurt him and make him a surprise boot during the Top 3, or possibly (but not likely) even before.  If he can continue eliminating the pitch problems that plagued his beginning of the season performances and have a “moment”, things are looking good for Mr. DeWyze.  (UP 2)
3. Siobhan Magnus- At this point, Siobhan is the only contestant that has any chance of breaking up the Lee-Crystal finally.  Siobhan is also the only contestant that I think hasn’t shown what she’s fully capable of, and if and when she does do that, the tides could shift.  In fact, if she can deliver another show stopper like “Paint it Black”, this thing my not be over yet.  Siobhan’s major obstacle is getting the judges to acknowledge a good performance, as they’ve been pretty critical of her nearly every week.  My instincts tell me they realize that she a threat to their pre-ordained final two.  (SAME)
4. Casey James- Casey certainly has the talent, his major challenge is overcoming his care-free personality and avoiding a karaoke disaster like last week’s “Don’t Stop”.  Casey almost gives off an aura of “I don’t really care” when he’s performing and when he’s taking judgement.  And don’t even get us started on how horrendous his group performance skills are.  If Casey can give another “Jealous Guy”, he could be a surprise Top 3-er.  In the end, I think his fate and final placing will be determined by how the three in front of him perform.  (DOWN 2)
5. Michael “Big Mike” Lynch- Quite opposite from Casey is Big Mike, who has a little too much personality for his own good.  I still wince when I think of his cocky retort to “check him out on iTunes” if you don’t like what you’re hearing on the show.  Big Mike’s pomposity far overshadows his voice, and makes me root strongly against him rather than for him.  Big Mike is pretty much destined to finish 5th, at which point I will not be checking him out on iTunes. (SAME)
6. Aaron Kelly- I’ve been scratching my head for the past 3 weeks as to how Aaron Kelly has managed to survive elimination.  I do think, however, that this will be my last week to scratch my head (it’s starting to bleed) over his survival skills because we think his luck has finally run out.  Having said that, this is Shania Week and with the right song he could give a decent performance.  For my scalp’s sake, let’s hope not.  (UP 1)
