Poll of the Day: Should We Keep the Daily Dose Feature?

Your Ad Here

Alright guys, this is democracy at work here.  The Daily Dose feature, which was started as a result of hate mail, has, ironically, received its fair share of hate mail in its short run.  I personally think it’s an interesting feature that I enjoy posting, and I do appreciate those of you that have expressed your support in e-mails to us.  To keep thing civilized around here, we’re offering up a poll to decide the fate of the Daily Dose.  Please vote wisely because you can only vote once.

I took the poll and I think you should leave it as it is.

If you are going to keep making it the “Daily Dose of Carrie Underwood”, then I say can it in its entirety (Of course, you can always start a Carrie Underwood fan blog and send out a “Daily Dose of Carrie” from there.).

If you are actually going to make it a daily dose of conservative issues, and not all about Carrie, then I am fine with leaving it as it is.

    • Anita, I’m wondering if you still don’t understand this post series. We pick a random topic and post about it for a month. Conservative issues are what we talk about normally on this blog (though lately it’s been hard to talk about too much because of work), so they don’t really fit. For June, it’s the Daily Dose of Carrie. For July, we can make it the Daily Dose of Anita and each day you can gripe about something.

*sigh* I see you are going to take my commentary and make it personal. Fine. If that’s what you want, you lose a subscriber. I thought this was a place to post our comments (and I did so nicely). I don’t need snark like “For July, we can make it the Daily Dose of Anita and each day you can gripe about something.”

But, since that is the road you have chosen, let me ask you something – do you have permission of the copyright holders to post all sorts of copyrighted material on this blog, such as the Carrie Underwood concert footage? Just because it’s on YouTube doesn’t mean that 1) the YouTube poster owns the copyright and has the right to post it or grant the right to others to repost or 2) that you have a right to repost it here. Something you may wish to think about.

Really, you may wish to rename this place the Democratic Journal – because it’s usually Democrats who wish to silence those who disagree with them. You and what is it, know-it-all Anna Kate make quite the pair.

Try to agree to disagree and not to make assumptions.

    • Anita, that “snark” was meant as an inoffensive joke, but if you choose to take a offense by it then that’s your prerogative.

Because I’ve dealt with this discussion before, let me give you what I’ve been told: Those who hold the copyright have full right to take the videos off of YouTube with question or forewarning. So if Carrie’s label/management see a video that breaks copyright, they have full authority to remove it at their pleasure. Often the label will leave videos up because it serves as good promotion for the artist. And if for whatever reason the copyright holders want to leave it on YouTube but removed from The Conservative Journal, they may feel free to ask me directly.

Anita, I have made no effort to silence you at all. I disagree with you completely, but I have made no assumptions. I’ve stated my opinion continually, as have you, but I can’t seem to find where I’ve tried to shut you up.

So, the answer is, you do *not* have the permission of the copyright holders to post the material and are breaking copyright law. It’s not up to the copyright holders to tell you to take it down – it’s up to you to seek permission first before posting. It’s sad that you willfully choose not respect the property rights of others. And that speaks volumes about character.

No need to respond. I will be unsubscribing from this website and will not be reading any more of your “inoffensive jokes”, nor viewing anymore of your poached copyrighted material.

Ywarrr…..fight nice kitties. I like the daily dose, but I do find some of the videos are poor quality, that can be annoying. I guess when you have some fan taking a video from their cell phone, I would imagine there is no copyright on them.

    hahaha what a bitch^^

anyways i like the blog rick and i always enjoy reading the opinion of someone with similear ideas. its reassuring to see that there are still sane people left in the world, just not too many on the hill.

    • John

Ha ha ha, you really are funny. Since you don’t have much intellect (as I can tell from your name-calling), I’ll stoop to your level and tell you that you are an ass^^

Sane people in the world do not steal other people’s property rights. Sounds to me like anyone who violates copyright law knowingly and purposefully is no better than Congress robbing taxpayers blind.

As for copyright law, someone taking video with their cell-phone owns the copyright to that video; however, Carrie Underwood and/or her record company and/or the promotional company, depending on her contract, owns the copyright to the performance. So, without the cell-phone user’s permission to tape the performance, and without the permission of both the person taping and Carrie Underwood, et. al to show the bootleg tape, the the site has violated the copyrights of multiple people.

Education, people, goes a long way. Try educating yourself before opening your mouth. You’ll sound more intelligent than just calling people names like a toddler in the school-yard.

  6. I voted weekly, but it doesn’t matter to me. It’s hard to keep daily momentum going for some topics.

Weekly, maybe you can get more of a discussion going (not like the above though – YIKES!)
