We finally made it to Orange Beach last night, and I’m happy to say that everything is looking a lot better, oil-wise, than on my previous trip last month. Granted, I’m in a totally different segment of the Alabama gulf coast, but I still think it’s an improvement based on what people have been telling me.
First, the smell has gone down considerably. Actually, I don’t smell any oil at all. The water looks a little better too, and by all accounts of those who work in the area it fluctuates daily. The worst part is the tar ball mine field you have to walk through to get down to the beach. Thankfully, there’s a pool behind the house so we won’t have to make the trip down through the tar balls often.
Since this is a big family trip, I haven’t gotten any good pictures yet. When the family starts to wear down later in the week, however, I”ll have plenty of time. Until then, have a great week and I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!
