The Conservative Journal began nearly 3 years ago as a purely political WordPress-hosted blog. Throughout the nearly 3 year journey, a lot of contributors have come and gone, some for more nefarious reasons than others (I’m looking at you, short-term writer who stole an iPad!). One thing that has been a constant on this roller coaster is that our site has always been a WordPress-hosted blog. Save for a few brief flirtations with self-hosting during periods of high-traffic (largely around election time), those of us behind the helm of the blog never saw much reason to leave our comfy WordPress-penthouse. That all changed recently when several of us decided to move out of Mom & Dad’s basement (figuratively) and ante up for our very own piece of cyber-space. The sudden change of heart really just came on a whim; honestly, I put my credit card information in on the hosting service’s site to see what my total would be before finding out that there is NO confirmation link. In other words, I found out how much a two-year hosting plan would be after it was paid for.
What does this switch mean for you? Basically nothing for now. Visitors of http://theconservativejournal.wordpress.com will be bumped directly to our new home at http://theconservativejournalblog.com (go ahead, give it a try). The RSS feed has been updated and posts will be delivered to your e-mail inbox just as they have in the past. All in all, it’s a pretty easy switch for the readers. As for us a-technical bloggers, well…… we got some work to do. So just sit back and enjoy the chaos from your comfortable lounge chair; it’s going to be a fun ride.
